For over 300 years, the Fakhoury family of Hebron — whose name means “the potter” in Arabic — has preserved one of Palestine’s oldest ceramic traditions. Working in the heart of Hebron’s Old City, their family has passed down hand-shaping, glazing, and kiln-firing techniques through generations. Despite the harsh restrictions and checkpoints that now divide their city, the Fakhourys continue to create bowls, mugs, and vessels entirely by hand, carrying forward a lineage of craftsmanship that has endured for centuries.
